Father: 'Paris Saint-Germain ace Neymar facing two months out'

Neymar's father claims that the Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil forward will undergo treatment on his foot that will "last six to eight weeks".

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar is facing up to two months on the sidelines even if he does not undergo an operation, according to his father.

The Brazil international suffered a fractured metatarsal and sprained ankle in PSG's 3-0 win over Marseille at the Parc des Princes on Sunday evening.

Boss Unai Emery hinted that Neymar could still be back in time to face Real Madrid next week, as the Parisians attempt to overturn a 3-1 deficit in the Champions League last-16 second leg.

Neymar Sr is less confident of his son's ability to recover in time, however, claiming that his layoff will more likely extend until mid-April at the earliest.

"PSG know that they will not be able to count on Neymar for the upcoming matches," he told ESPN. "His treatment will last six to eight weeks, whether there is an operation or not.

"The decision lies with PSG and will be made as a team after the arrival of the Brazil national team doctor. It is vital to make it quickly because we cannot wait. Surgery is the quickest way to accelerate the player's recovery."

Neymar has scored 28 goals and set up 16 more since arriving at PSG from Barcelona for a world-record fee last summer.
