Emilio Butragueno: 'Barcelona were better than us'

Real Madrid sporting director Emilio Butragueno concedes that Barcelona "were far superior" to his team in Saturday's El Clasico, which the home side lost 4-0.

Real Madrid sporting director Emilio Butragueno has admitted that his team were second best during Saturday's El Clasico in Madrid.

Barcelona stunned the world of football with a 4-0 win over the hosts at the Bernabeu, with Luis Suarez, Neymar and Andres Iniesta all on the scoresheet for the rampant visitors.

Butragueno has offered no excuses for his team's defeat and said that Barcelona "were far superior" on the night.

"Barca were far superior in every facet of the game. It's a bad night for us," Butragueno told Marca. "We don't want excuses. They were better and we must reflect and be united. It was a sad night for the fans. They're demanding and you have to respect their feelings."

Real Madrid, who have lost their last two games in the league, will return to Champions League action at home to Shakhtar Donetsk during the week.
