David Moyes's Real Sociedad edge out Getafe in La Liga

Real Sociedad move up to 10th in La Liga thanks to a 1-0 victory over Getafe this evening.

Real Sociedad edged out Getafe thanks to Inigo Martinez's second-half strike in their La Liga clash at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

Pedro Leon almost opened the scoring for Getafe after 20 minutes, but after dispossessing Esteban Granero, his dipping shot struck the crossbar and away to safety.

Leon was denied once more as the first half drew to a close, with the midfielder's low drive from the edge of the box kept out by Geronimo Rulli.

Sociedad started the second half strongly, with Sergio Canales going close after rounding two defenders, but his effort was kept out by Vicente Guaita.

The visitors' pressure eventually told, with Martinez breaking the deadlock after his header struck the post before going in off the helpless Guaita.

The home side searched for an equaliser, and Emiliano Velazquez's attempt deflected wide before Medhi Lacen's effort from 18 yards out was saved by Rulli.

However, Sociedad held on for the three points, with David Moyes's men now 10th in the table, while Getafe remain in 13th.
