Aymen Abdennour: 'Nuno Espirito Santo key to Valencia move'

Aymen Abdennour claims that Valencia boss Nuno Espirito Santo was a key factor in his decision to move to the Mestalla.

Aymen Abdennour has revealed that Nuno Espirito Santo played a key role in convincing him to make the switch to Valencia.

After being linked with a move to Chelsea earlier this month, Valencia confirmed the signing of the centre-back from Monaco at the weekend and the 26-year-old is excited to be working under Nuno.

"I'm very happy. I chose Valencia because of the project and because they're in Europe," the Tunisian told Super Deporte. "There were many options but I was impressed by Valencia's interest. I love the football culture here. It's a high level.

"We were in the Monaco offices on Saturday. The presidents of the two clubs and Peter Lim. I got a call from Nuno and he told me it was a great project and we could make progress."

Abdennour was also rumoured to be a target for Barcelona.
