Nottingham Forest reportedly enter talks to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Leo Bonatini as they chase promotion from the Championship.

Nottingham Forest have reportedly emerged as serious contenders for the signature of Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Leo Bonatini.

The 24-year-old was a key part of the Wolves side that stormed to the Championship title last season and penned a four-year deal with the club at the end of the campaign.

Bonatini has found game time limited in the Premier League this season, however, making just seven appearances from the bench after making way for newcomer Raul Jimenez in the pecking order.

Wolves are thought to have made Bonatini available for transfer in recent days, and according to Nottinghamshire Live, Championship promotion hopefuls Forest are in pole position to get a deal done today.

The transfer could yet hinge on whether Wolves manage to make their own striker signing in the dying hours of the transfer window, meanwhile, with a move for a player dubbed "the Iranian Lionel Messi" reportedly breaking down at the final hurdle.

Any exit for Bonatini is likely to be on a loan basis unless an offer is made in excess of the £3.5m that Wolves paid to sign him last summer.
