Tiger Woods finishes 15th on return to action, Hideki Matsuyama comes out on top

Returning 14-time Major champion Tiger Woods fails to impress during the final round of the Hero World Challenge - a tournament won by Hideki Matsuyama.

Tiger Woods endured a difficult final round on his return to action at the Hero World Challenge to finish down in 15th place.

The 14-time Major champion, competing for the first time in 15 months after undergoing two back operations, could only manage a four-under-par 76 during Sunday's final session in the Bahamas.

Woods ended the tournament with the most birdies, with a total of 24 in all - including five across the fourth round - but he was again let down by three double-bogeys to remain well adrift of earning the title.

That honour belonged to Hideki Matsuyama, who held off a strong challenge from Henrik Stenson as he saw his seven-stroke overnight lead cut down to just two shots by the end of play.

A fourth triumph in five tournaments for Matsuyama came on the back of his worst round of the week - a one-over-par 73 allowing Stenson to really put the pressure on, but his impressive showing was not enough to complete an incredible comeback.

Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar ended in a tie for third, meanwhile, and a bogey-free round of 68 for Patrick Reed saw him climb to 10th in the leaderboard.
