Tommaso Allan: 'Italy must improve attacking'

Italy fly-half Tommaso Allan admits that the team will need to improve their attacking for their Rugby World Cup match against Ireland.

Italy fly-half Tommaso Allan has admitted that the team will have to work on their attack ahead of their match against Ireland at the Rugby World Cup.

The Azzurri picked up their first win since beating Scotland in the Six Nations when they secured a narrow 23-18 victory over Canada at the weekend.

The 22-year-old told reporters: "It was harder than expected, Canada really brought a good game. A win's a win, it hasn't happened since February so we can build on this going towards Ireland.

"Getting out of our half is quite messy, in the breakdown area we need to clear the ball better and we keep getting slow ball or dirty ball from the scrum-half and that didn't help us.

"We pride ourselves on our defence, that's one of our good strengths. We defended well, but we've got to improve our attacking."

Ireland face Italy at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday.
