Arizona Cardinals president Michael Bidwill has revealed that the club are trying to restructure the contract of defensive end Darnell Dockett.
The 33-year-old missed the 2014 season with a torn ACL, but was a solid player for the Cardinals in his previous 10 seasons with the club.
However, Bidwill has admitted that the Cardinals are looking to restructure his deal as the defensive end is scheduled to have a $9.8m (£6.3m) cap hit for the 2015 season.
"We drafted him in the same class as Fitz; I'd love to have him retire as a Cardinal, I think that's what he needs to do is stay in a Cardinal uniform and we're looking forward to working with him to restructure his deal," Bidwill told reporters.
"It'll free up some cap space so we can be out there, being aggressive and building a team and getting a ring on his finger."
The Cardinals also restructured the contract of veteran wideout Larry Fitzgerald to ensure his stay for the 2015 campaign.
