Mike McCarthy: 'Defensive changes would be my decision'

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy insists that any changes that would be made to his side's coaching staff on the defensive side of the ball would be his.

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy is adamant that he, and not Dom Capers, controls his side's defensive coaching staff.

The Packers exited the playoffs at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers for the second-straight season, as their defense failed to stop Colin Kaepernick.

The manner of McCarthy's side's defeat led to questions about the possibility of changes on the defensive staff, and the head coach revealed that those decisions were his to make rather than the defensive coordinator's.

"I wouldn't discuss that if I did anyway," McCarthy told ESPN. "But for the record, I control the coaching staff. Dom doesn't control the defensive staff."

Packers linebackers coach Kevin Greene left the club at the end of the season.
