England coach Andy Flower has suggested that batsman Kevin Pietersen will officially return to the national side within the next 36 hours.
The 32-year-old, who was snubbed from the England side after admitting that he sent 'derogatory' text messages regarding his teammates to members of the South Africa squad in the summer, is expected to make a fresh apology to the ECB and his national teammates before being welcomed back into the side.
"There's been a lot of formal communication between the ECB and Kevin and there will be a press conference, I imagine, in the next 36 hours enlighten you as little further," said Flower. "Did we miss him? Of course."
England, who were dumped out of the Twenty20 World Cup after losing to Sri Lanka yesterday, may allow Pietersen to join them on their tour of India, despite the batsman originally being omitted from the team.
