Boucher surgery successful

The medical team who performed Mark Boucher's second eye operation today have revealed the the outcome was "very positive" and that there were no surprises.

Boucher underwent a second procedure after the initial investigative op, and the news of the outcome is positive with the 35-year-old remaining on course to regain his vision.

In a statement, Cricket South Africa said: "The procedure went well and took about three hours. There were no complications, no bleeding and nothing else unexpected. The important parts of the retina were intact, confirming previous findings.

"The blood which accumulated due to the trauma was removed. The outcome looks very positive and the surgeon is pleased with the procedure."

Boucher was forced to retire from international cricket following the freak injury.
