Team GB's Monique Gladding and Stacie Powell have bowed out of the women's 10m platform in the Olympic diving.
The British pair finished just outside of the qualification places in 19th and 20th respectively in an evening where the majority of the competitors struggled to find their top form.
Gladding was ranked the higher of the two with a final score of 301.45, less than seven points behind 18th-placed Un Hyang Kim of North Korea.
World champion Chen Ruolin of China was one of the few consistent performers, storming through to the last 18 with a score of 392.35, more than 43 points ahead of second-placed Pandelela Rinong Pamg of Malaysia.
Chen's compatriot Hu Yadan was less convincing, managing only sixth place finish behind Australian pair Brittany Broben and Melissa Wu.
The women's 10m platform semi-final takes place at the Aquatics Centre from 10am tomorrow.
