Coronation Street star Jacob Roberts has revealed that his character Kit Green will lie to mother Bernie (Jane Hazelgrove) next week in order to expose her "selfish" past.
Earlier this year it was revealed that Bernie had another child whom she gave up for adoption 31 years ago - and after some detective work she discovered him to be Kit, a policeman recently transferred to the Weatherfield branch.
Kit has so far been hostile towards his mother, but in next week's episodes he tells her that he wants to discuss revealing his existence to siblings Paul (Peter Ash) and Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell).
"He is still very angry, he doesn't want anything to do with [Bernie]," former Hollyoaks actor Roberts explained. "As far as he is aware she abandoned him twice, once when he was born and then again when he was 20 and he arranged to meet her and she didn't show up. He has a lot of unresolved issues."
He added: "He is sad that Bernie stopped him from having a relationship with [Paul and Gemma]. He is an only child and he would have loved to have siblings and he is resentful that he has missed out on so much time with them. They still don't know he is their brother and Paul is dying so time is running out for all of them."

Kit arranges to meet Bernie at the Rovers so that they can decide the best way to tell Paul and Gemma about him, but while Bernie waits, he goes round to the flat and tells the twins himself, face-to-face.
"It is all an act, he is letting her think that he wants to bring the family together and whilst he is being honest about wanting a relationship with Gemma and Paul, he is pretending that he wants to build bridges with Bernie but it is the last thing he wants," Roberts said. "He says he will meet her in the pub but he leaves her waiting."
"He wants to tell Gemma and Paul his version of events," he continued. "He wants them to know how their mum abandoned him and kept his existence from them. He is determined to make it clear how they all missed out and really make it clear how selfish he feels she was.
"He does get some pleasure about doing it behind her back. He wants to hurt her like she hurt him."
