Arsenal 'being used to drum up Bruno Guimaraes interest'

Arsenal are allegedly being used to increase interest in Athletico Paranaense midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, who is also wanted by Benfica.

Athletico Paranaense are allegedly using Arsenal in order to increase interest in Bruno Guimaraes.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that Benfica had made a formal approach for the midfielder, who is expected to move to Europe in 2020.

However, president Mario Celso Petraglia also suggested that Arsenal were monitoring the situation ahead of a bid during the summer window.

According to A Bola, Petraglia's revelation was an attempt to gain further offers for the 22-year-old in the near future.

As it stands, it is unclear whether that strategy has paid off, although Arsenal will likely have to make a quick decision over whether to make a move for the Brazilian.

Paranaense are likely to consider any offers in the region of £17m.
