Arsenal are reportedly pressing ahead with the signing of Dynamo Dresden goalkeeper Markus Schubert.
The retirement of Petr Cech has left Arsenal short of backup for Bernd Leno, although there have been suggestions that Unai Emery may promote Emiliano Martinez after a number of loan periods away from the Emirates Stadium.
However, The Independent claims that Arsenal are close to completing a deal for German stopper Schubert.
The 21-year-old made a total of 31 outings in 2.Bundesliga during the most recent campaign, seemingly doing enough to suggest to Emery that he could be a success in North London.
Schubert is also available on a free transfer, something which ticks a box with Arsenal due to their limited transfer funds this summer.
