Mikel Arteta is reportedly happy for Bernd Leno to leave Arsenal, so long as the Gunners have a new number one goalkeeper lined up.

Arsenal are reportedly open to selling first-choice goalkeeper Bernd Leno in the upcoming transfer window.

The Germany international has generally had a positive rapport with Gunners fans since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in 2018, but a number of errors have overshadowed his time in the English capital.

Leno himself has played down reports of an exit from Arsenal, but his deal at the Emirates Stadium has just over two years left to run, and there has been no indication that an extension is in the offing.

According to The Mirror, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta would be happy to offload Leno this summer, provided that the club already have a new number one shot-stopper lined up.

The Gunners are being tipped to sign Mathew Ryan from Brighton & Hove Albion on a permanent basis, while a deal for Ajax's Andre Onana has also been mooted, but the Cameroon international is banned for another five months for a doping violation.

Leno kept 11 clean sheets in 35 Premier League appearances for Arsenal last term, and he has won the FA Cup and Community Shield in North London, although he did not play in either final.
