Aston Villa defender Nathan Baker has admitted that Fabian Delph's decision to stay at the club is "great news".
The midfielder was expected to join Manchester City when they activated the £8m release clause in his contract, but he today confirmed his intention to remain at Villa Park.
Baker is quoted as saying by The Mirror: "I don't know what Fabian's situation has been to be honest. We've not really been speaking about it, we came to the training camp and he's stayed at home because his missus is pregnant. We've been away at this training camp.
"He's our skipper so it is a big bonus he will be with us next season. He's one of our main players, it's great news."
Delph signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract last season.
