Atletico Madrid have signed Croatian defender Sime Vrsaljko on a five-year contract.
The 24-year-old, who is believed to have cost Atletico in the region of £14m, has moved to the Vicente Calderon after spending three seasons in Serie A, two of them at Sassuolo.
It is understood that the full-back underwent a medical while representing his country at Euro 2016 and the deal has now been announced on Atletico's official website.
"Playing in Atletico is a big challenge for me. I'm very happy," Football Espana quotes Vrsaljko as saying.
The club's sporting director Jose Luis Caminero said: "He's a player with huge potential, though he has already shown his quality in a league as competitive as Serie A.
"He fulfils our idea of incorporating players who increase the competition in the group. He's versatile as he can play both sides, which offers interesting alternatives."
Vrsaljko started his professional career with Dinamo Zagreb and won four league titles with the Croatian outfit before joining Genoa in 2014, where he spent just one season.
