Ivan Rakitic targets trophies with Barcelona

Ivan Rakitic says that he is desperate to help Barcelona win trophies after officially completing his move from Sevilla.

Ivan Rakitic has revealed that he is desperate to help Barcelona win trophies after officially completing his move from Sevilla.

The Croatian, who will wear the number four shirt for his new club next season, has also claimed that he is "very happy" to have departed Sevilla with their blessing.

"I want to thank the club. The most important thing is to feel good about this and see if they can count on me. Hopefully I'll return the confidence they've shown in me and I'll do the best I possibly can. I didn't come just to say I've been here, but to make history," he told reporters at a press conference.

"The trophy I won at Sevilla last season make me even hungrier and hopefully it will be the first of many. I'm also very happy to have left Sevilla in the best possible way.

"I wanted to take the next step in my career and after the first time I spoke with Zubi (Andoni Zubizarreta), I told him yes, which was the most important decision I've made in my life, since I got married. I'm going to work hard for this and I'll be trying to do better each game I play."

Rakitic contributed 12 goals and 10 assists in La Liga last season.
