Debut goal delights Shola Ameobi

New Bolton Wanderers striker Shola Ameobi speaks of his happiness after his debut goal against Leeds United.

Shola Ameobi has admitted that he was "delighted" to get his name on the scoresheet during what was his debut for Bolton Wanderers yesterday afternoon.

The striker, who joined the Trotters on Friday, found the net as the 10-man hosts played out a 1-1 draw with Leeds United at the Macron Stadium.

Speaking to the club's official website, the 34-year-old said: "We didn't get the win that we wanted, but we need to take the positives out of every situation.

"On a personal point, I didn't expect to play as many minutes as I did having not played a game in a while, but I was delighted to be able to contribute to the team.

"As a striker, goals breed confidence and it's a great start for me. I'm not going to rest on that. I'm here to score goals and hopefully provide them too during my time here."

Ameobi's goal ended a personal drought that had dated back 539 days.
