Saturday's Major League Soccer predictions including Los Angeles FC vs. Columbus Crew

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Major League Soccer fixtures, including Los Angeles FC vs. Columbus Crew.

Cincinnati vs. Charlotte FC (Sunday, 12.30am)

FC Cincinnati will attempt to record a fourth consecutive victory when they welcome Charlotte FC to the TQL Stadium for Saturday's MLS contest.

The visitors, meanwhile, will be looking to return to winning ways after failing to take anything from their last two outings.

We say: FC Cincinnati 2-1 Charlotte FC

Cincinnati have won their previous two home matches against Charlotte by a combined 5-0 scoreline, and we think they will make full use of home advantage again to claim a narrow victory in Saturday's fixture.

DC United vs. Nashville (Sunday, 12.30am)

Two MLS teams who could certainly do with a victory go head to head at Audi Field on Saturday as DC United entertain the challenge of Nashville SC.

The hosts are winless in 11 straight matches heading into this one, while their visitors are currently on a run of three consecutive defeats.

We say: DC United 2-2 Nashville SC

DC United have conceded the most goals in MLS this season and another goal-fest could be on the cards in this one. That said, we are also backing a share of the spoils with honours even at the end of the 90 minutes.

Montreal vs. Atlanta (Sunday, 12.30am)

CF Montreal striker Matias Coccaro© Reuters

Two teams within striking distance of an MLS playoff berth will tussle on Saturday as CF Montreal host Atlanta United at Saputo Stadium.

Le CFM began this month by scoring a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps, moving to within a point of a post-season spot in the Eastern Conference, a point behind the Five Stripes, who were beaten 5-2 by Real Salt Lake and are narrowly below that playoff line.

We say: CF Montreal 0-0 Atlanta United

Neither side are at full strength right now because of the transfer market or international competitions, so we expect to see a dull contest between two sides that, more than anything, want to stay alive in the playoff race for now.

New England vs. Orlando City (Sunday, 12.30am)

New England Revolution head coach Caleb Porter reacts on July 4, 2024© Reuters

New England Revolution will look to bounce back from a defeat to the Seattle Sounders when they play host to Orlando City in Saturday's MLS contest.

Meanwhile, Orlando will be looking to continue their promising spell of form after winning three of their last four matches

We say: New England Revolution 2-1 Orlando City

New England may have won three of their previous four home games, but we think they may have to settle for a point when they face an Orlando side that has lost just one of their last five matches.

Toronto vs. Philadelphia (Sunday, 12.30am)

Toronto manager John Herdman© Reuters

Toronto can maintain their narrow advantage above the Eastern Conference playoff line in MLS with a victory against the Philadelphia Union on Saturday at BMO Field.

A 4-0 defeat to the Columbus Crew has the Reds clinging to the final post-season berth, with one win more than Atlanta United, while the Union are three points below that playoff line, following a 0-0 draw with the New York Red Bulls.

We say: Toronto 2-1 Philadelphia Union

The last few weeks have been disastrous for both clubs, but we are leaning towards the Reds, who have several of their veterans back in the fold, while the Union look lost, perhaps understandably so given the heavy rotations.

Austin vs. Seattle (Sunday, 1.30am)

Austin FC head coach Josh Wolff looks on on March 3, 2024© Reuters

Fresh off the back of reaching the semi-finals of the US Open Cup, Seattle Sounders journey to the Q2 Stadium to take on Austin FC on Saturday.

The Verde have failed to win any of their previous three home games against Brian Schmetzer's men and will head into the weekend looking to end this poor run.

We say: Austin FC 2-2 Seattle Sounders

Seattle Sounders have hit their stride in recent weeks and will head into Saturday's game with sky-high confidence. However, Austin have been tough to crack at home this season and we see them holding out for a share of the spoils.

Chicago Fire vs. NY City (Sunday, 1.30am)

Chicago Fire FC head coach Frank Klopas shouts on March 5, 2024© Reuters

Playing in their final MLS home game this month, the Chicago Fire will welcome New York City FC to Solider Field on Saturday.

The Fire are three points below the Eastern Conference playoff line following a 1-0 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes, while NYCFC dropped to fifth with a 2-1 defeat at Austin FC.

We say: Chicago Fire 1-1 New York City FC

New York City have not been nearly as creative going forward away from home this season, and we expect a cagey affair with two teams that may have difficulty finding enough attacking solutions to win.

Dallas vs. LA Galaxy (Sunday, 1.30am)

FC Dallas midfielder Patrickson Delgado (6) reacts after scoring a goal on May 23, 2024© Reuters

Still licking their wounds from their gut-wrenching US Open Cup exit, a disconsolate Dallas play host to Los Angeles Galaxy in the MLS on Saturday.

The Galaxy have lost each of their last seven visits to the Toyota Stadium since scraping a narrow 2-1 victory in August 2015 and will head into the weekend looking to end this poor run.

We say: Dallas 2-2 Los Angeles Galaxy

The last five meetings between Dallas and Los Angeles Galaxy have produced a combined 18 goals and we anticipate another end-to-end affair at the Toyota Stadium. While the Toros are still reeling from their cup defeat, they have a solid home record over LA Galaxy and we predict they will hold out for a share of the spoils here.

Houston vs. Minnesota Utd (Sunday, 1.30am)

Two sides separated by just one point and two places in the Western Conference standings go head to head on Saturday as Houston Dynamo play host to Minnesota United at the Shell Energy Stadium.

Having lost each of their six matches, the Loons are currently on the joint-longest losing streak in the league and will head into the weekend looking to end this dire run.

We say: Houston Dynamo 2-0 Minnesota United

Houston Dynamo will be licking their lips ahead of Saturday's game as they take on an out-of-sorts Minnesota United side who have lost their last six matches. Olsen's men have been rock-solid at home, where they are unbeaten in seven of their last eight games, and we are tipping them to secure all three points this weekend.

St Louis City vs. Vancouver (Sunday, 1.30am)

St Louis City interim coach John Hacksworth© Reuters

For the second time in two weeks, St Louis City and the Vancouver Whitecaps will meet in an MLS match, this time at CityPark on Saturday.

Last Sunday, St Louis dropped to 12th in the Western Conference with a 4-1 defeat against the Colorado Rapids, six places below the Caps in the table, after the latter settled for a 1-1 draw with CF Montreal.

We say: St Louis City 2-2 Vancouver Whitecaps

St Louis lead the league in draws this season with 10, and while many of those points have been memorable fixtures, they have yet to be convincing over 90 minutes, while the Caps are having a tough time winning away from home themselves.

Colorado vs. NY Red Bulls (Sunday, 2.30am)

Colorado Rapids head coach Chris Armas on February 25, 2024© Reuters

Colorado Rapids will aim to make it six wins from their last seven matches when they welcome New York Red Bulls to Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Saturday.

The visitors, meanwhile, jet out to Commerce City this weekend in search of a first MLS victory in three outings off the back of consecutive stalemates.

We say: Colorado Rapids 2-1 New York Red Bulls

Given the attacking firepower on display here, it is hard to see either of the teams coming away with a clean sheet. That said, we are tipping the hosts to narrowly edge out their visitors in the end.

Portland vs. Salt Lake (Sunday, 3.25am)

Portland Timbers forward Jonathan Rodriguez (14) celebrates a goal on May 16, 2024© Reuters

In-form sides Portland Timbers and Real Salt Lake will do battle at Providence Park on Saturday in the latest round of Major League Soccer matches.

Both teams head into this weekend's contest off the back of emphatic victories last time out and will be looking to push on from where they left off.

We say: Portland Timbers 2-2 Real Salt Lake

Portland Timbers and Real Salt Lake are two of the highest-scoring teams in the MLS, so an entertaining affair is on the cards here.

However, we can see the teams matching each other over the course of the 90 minutes to settle for a point apiece in the end.

Los Angeles vs. Columbus Crew (Sunday, 3.30am)

Kei Kamara celebrate a goal for Los Angeles FC on July 4, 2024© Reuters

Fresh off the back of securing their spot in the semi-finals of the US Open Cup, Los Angeles go head to head with Columbus Crew at the BMO Stadium on Saturday.

This will be the first meeting between the sides since their clash in the 2023 playoff final back in December, when the Crew secured a 2-1 victory courtesy of first-half goals from Cucho Hernandez and Yaw Yeboah.

We say: Los Angeles FC 3-1 Columbus Crew

While Columbus Crew will be looking to continue where they left off against Toronto, they will have to be at their best against an in-form Los Angeles side who have been tough to crack in recent weeks. The Black and Gold have made their June turf a fortress this season and we see them securing all three points this weekend.

Earthquakes vs. Kansas (Sunday, 3.30am)

San Jose Earthquakes forward Jeremy Ebobisse (center) reacts after scoring a goal on September 17, 2023© Reuters

Off the back of a much-needed MLS victory last time out, San Jose Earthquakes welcome Sporting Kansas City to PayPal Park on Saturday.

The away side, on the other hand, head to California in search of a fourth win in five matches across all competitions to keep their recent resurgence going.

We say: San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 Sporting Kansas City

As bad as San Jose have been at home this term, Sporting Kansas have been significantly worse on the road, and we cannot see them getting anything from this one.

We are tipping the hosts to emerge triumphant, albeit by only a narrow margin.
