Hull City boss Steve Bruce praises recalled Paul McShane

Hull City manager Steve Bruce is happy with Paul McShane's performance on his return to the team against Manchester City.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce has heaped praise on Paul McShane after the defender made his first start for the club in three months at Manchester City.

McShane fell out with Bruce in November over his lack of playing time, and he feared that he wouldn't play for the club again after the incident.

Bruce told BBC Sport: "You can't fault ever Paul McShane and his attitude on the pitch, he gives you everything he has got time after time. That makes him the cult hero he is, the supporters associate with him. They forgive a mistake because they see the effort and endeavour.

"The problem, and I can understand it, is when I don't pick him he becomes a young, angry man."

Hull drew 1-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
