Steve Bruce: 'Assem Allam backing will remain unchanged'

Steve Bruce says he is unconcerned by the news that owner Assem Allam plans to boycott Hull City games for the duration of the season.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce has stated that he is confident owner Assem Allam will continue to back him this season.

The Tigers kicked off their Championship campaign with a 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town on the weekend, but the Allam family were not in attendance at the KC Stadium.

Tensions have risen in recent times after a second name-change appeal was knocked back by the Football Association, while the 76-year-old has also vowed to stay away for the duration of this campaign.

Bruce believes that he will still receive plenty of backing, however, which was underlined by the arrival of Moses Odubajo from Brentford last week.

"We've just signed a player for £3.5m so that will not change. I hope not anyway," the City boss is quoted as saying by the Hull Daily Mail. "There's certainly no evidence of it changing. I manage the football side and they run the club."

A crowd of 19,361 were in attendance on Saturday afternoon to see Hull get their campaign off to a winning start on Humberside.
