Hull City are reportedly poised to make a move for Sheffield United defender Harry Maguire after seemingly losing out on top target Joleon Lescott to West Bromwich Albion.
Former England international Lescott is believed to be having a medical at The Hawthorns after leaving Manchester City as a free agent at the end of the season.
The Tigers were hoping to lure the 31-year-old to the KC Stadium but have always had back-up options in mind, including Maguire, who has scored 12 goals in 166 United appearances since debuting in 2011.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly had three bids for the 21-year-old rejected, and now face losing out on him completely as Hull threaten to make their interest in him concrete, according to Sky Sports News.
Steve Bruce is looking to bolster his squad in all areas as Hull prepare to compete in the Europa League as well as domestically next season, and has been impressed by Maguire's performances in League One.
