Liverpool legend John Aldridge has hailed the impending return of defender Glen Johnson as a "big boost".
The England right-back has been missing since he picked up an injury in the 1-0 win over Manchester United on September 1.
However, Johnson could return against Newcastle United this Saturday, and Aldridge feels that the news will be greatly welcomed at Anfield.
"The return to fitness of Glen Johnson is a big boost for Liverpool and I'd like to see him straight back in the starting line up for Saturday's trip to Newcastle United," Aldridge wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.
"Johnson is a real threat when he goes forward and that right wing-back role is made for him.
"Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling have played there while Johnson was out with an ankle injury but neither are as well suited to that position. Liverpool will be significantly strengthened by Johnson's comeback."
Johnson is likely to feature as a right wing-back following manager Brendan Rodgers's switch to a 3-5-2 formation in recent weeks.
