Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars confirms that Liverpool are keeping tabs on Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen.

Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars has confirmed that Liverpool are in pursuit of their Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen.

The Merseyside outfit have been linked with the 21-year-old, who has one year left on his current contract, following reports that scouts were sent to watch Eriksen play for Denmark against the Czech Republic.

While Overmars has revealed that a number of clubs are interested in the playmaker, he has stated that the Reds have been persistent.

"We have the list of the scouts of foreign clubs who have been here recently and Liverpool has been a regular visitor," Overmars told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have also been linked with Swansea City defender Ashley Williams as a possible replacement for the soon-to-be-retired Jamie Carragher.
