Liverpool fall short with £10m Nathaniel Clyne bid?

Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne is the subject of a failed £10m bid by Liverpool, according to a report.

Liverpool have reportedly had a £10m bid for right-back Nathaniel Clyne rejected by Southampton.

The England international is said to be wanted by a host of Premier League clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester United among others.

However, The Telegraph claims that Brendan Rodgers is the first to have made an official approach for Clyne, which the Saints knocked back.

It is believed that the South Coast club value the 24-year-old at a far higher price, but would be willing to let him leave should the right offer eventually be made.

Clyne, who was named in the latest senior England squad, has one year remaining on his current St Mary's contract.
