The agent of Mohamed Salah has released a strongly-worded social media statement in the wake of the Liverpool man's cryptic comments about his future.

Following the Reds' 3-0 Premier League win over Manchester United two weekends ago, Salah sent tongues wagging when he claimed that the 2024-25 season would be his "last" in a Liverpool shirt.

The Egypt international is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the campaign, and he also revealed that the club had not yet started any negotiations over a renewal.

Fans quickly began to try to decipher Salah's comments, which very well could have been the attacker simply referring to his contract situation rather than declaring that he wants to leave.

Nevertheless, Salah's comments inevitably sparked a carousel of stories surrounding a possible exit from Anfield in 2025, when Saudi Pro League clubs are expected to make another attempt to bring him to the Middle East.

Salah agent slams "click-whoring" from journalists

Salah's agent Ramy Abbas Issa - who has often been quick to shut down speculation over his client's future - has now added to the uncertainty on social media, slamming "click-whoring" journalists and insisting that there are no sources with inside information on the Egyptian.

"FYI - all those 'journalists' who imply having 'inside information' about Mohamed's future are making claims/posts based on absolutely nothing," Abbas Issa wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Just click-whoring. "Sources close to Mohamed" don't exist. This post is really just to tell you that they don't know."

Liverpool memorably turned away a bid of £150m from Al-Ittihad for Salah in the summer 2023 transfer window, and there was briefly talk of the Saudi giants coming back in with a world-record £200m offer, which did not materialise.

At the time, Abbas Issa insisted that Salah would not have penned a new Liverpool contract in 2022 if he planned to leave one year later, but he is still regarded as a prime target for Middle Eastern giants.

The former Chelsea and Roma man has come up with three goals and three assists from as many Premier League matches this season, taking his total for Liverpool to 214 goals and 92 assists from 352 games in all competitions.

Could Salah leave Liverpool next summer?

It is hard not to feel sympathy for Liverpool's new sporting director Richard Hughes, who was tasked with sorting out Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Salah's contract situations upon his arrival this summer.

In spite of Salah's bombshell comments at Old Trafford, the 32-year-old is thought to be keen to stay at Anfield for a little while longer and is not yet ready to leave for the Saudi Pro League.

The Egypt international apparently does not want to make the same mistake as former teammate Sadio Mane, who left Liverpool for Bayern Munich in 2022 and failed to impress in Bavaria before joining Al-Nassr.

Liverpool have reportedly set a January deadline to agree a new deal with Salah, who would be able to talk to foreign clubs from New Year's Day if he does not pen a renewal before then.
