Manchester City reportedly submit an official transfer bid to sign Egypt international Omar Marmoush from Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankufrt.

Manchester City have reportedly submitted an official offer for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush.

The Citizens are working hard to strengthen their squad, as they look to start a rebuild of Pep Guardiola's squad in the middle of what has proven to be a disappointing campaign.

Man City could bolster their defence with a couple of additions, having made progress in deals to sign Lens' Abdulkodir Khusanov and Palmeiras' Vitor Reis.

The Premier League champions have reached an agreement with Lens over a £33.5m, while they have verbally agreed a transfer for Reis, who is set to undergo a medical ahead of the move.

At the opposite end of the pitch, Man City are working on a deal to strengthen Guardiola's attacking options with the addition of Marmoush.

Man City table Marmoush bid

A recent report claims that Man City were making good progress in negotiations with Frankfurt over a move for the Egypt international.

Frank CEO Markus Krosche admitted at the weekend that an unnamed club had made contact over a transfer, although he revealed he was still holding out hope that Marmoush would stay at Deutsche Bank Park.

However, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Man City have now stepped up their pursuit with an official bid for the Frankfurt attacker.

The update claims that Man City's proposal falls 'below Frankfurt's expectations', although there is 'optimism' that the two clubs will eventually come to an agreement.

Man City are seemingly hopeful that they can agree a fee with Frankfurt, as they look to wrap up the transfer by the end of the week.

Marmoush starts against Freiburg

While there he may be the subject of a transfer bid, Marmoush has been named in Frankfurt's starting lineup for their home clash with Freiburg.

There is a possibility that it could be his final appearance for the German club if Man City can strike an agreement with his current employers.

Marmoush scored in his previous outing for die Alder, scoring the decisive goal in Saturday's 1-0 away victory over St. Pauli.

That strike took his overall tally for the season to 19 goals in 25 competitive appearances, including 14 goals in the Bundesliga.
