Manchester City are reportedly closing in on a deal to make Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush their second addition of the winter transfer window.

Manchester City have reportedly made quick progress over a deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush.

The Citizens are looking to be active in the winter transfer market as they try to limit the damage in a disappointing season.

Man City are expected to bolster Pep Guardiola's defensive ranks with the addition of 20-year-old Lens centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov.

The Premier League champions have reached an agreement with Lens to sign the Uzbekistan international for €40m (£33.5m) plus add-ons.

Khusanov is set to become Man City's first signing of the winter transfer window, and he could be closely followed by a new addition to Guardiola's forward options.

Man City close in on Marmoush signing

A recent report claimed that the Citizens had agreed personal terms with Frankfurt's Marmoush, paving the way for the two clubs to discuss a potential transfer fee.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Marmoush is closing in on a winter move to the Etihad Stadium following significant progress in negotiations between Man City and Frankfurt.

The update claims that talks are 'progressing fast', with Man City hoping that they could reach a formal agreement sometime next week.

If everything goes according to plan, Marmoush could become Man City's second signing of the summer following the expected arrival of Khusanov.

Marmoush to replace Alvarez

Romano claims that Guardiola views the Egypt international as the 'perfect player' to replace 2022 World Cup winner Julian Alvarez.

Man City failed to replace the Argentine forward after he completed a permanent move to Spanish side Atletico Madrid in the summer.

Alvarez was sometimes used as a backup option to Erling Haaland, but he was also utilised as a second striker during his time at the Etihad Stadium.

The Argentine certainly provided a useful contribution to Man City's attacking efforts, netting 36 goals and providing 18 assists in 103 competitive appearances.

Marmoush has the quality to fill the void left by Haaland, having developed into a prolific attacker during his time at Frankfurt.

The Egyptian has scored 35 goals and provided 18 assists in 65 appearances since he joined Frankfurt from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2023.
