Rio Ferdinand to be left out of England squad

Reports claim that Rio Ferdinand is to be left out of England's Euro 2012 squad by Roy Hodgson and that Kyle Walker will miss the tournament due to injury.

Rio Ferdinand has reportedly been left out of England's Euro 2012 squad by manager Roy Hodgson.

The Manchester United defender's possible inclusion has been the reason for much speculation recently and the central defender was originally expected to be preferred to John Terry.

Hodgson was believed to be against selecting both players due to Terry's impending court case regarding racial abuse aimed at Anton Ferdinand, Rio's brother.

However, BBC Sport reports that Hodgson has chosen to leave the 33-year-old out of his squad with an announcement expected tomorrow.

Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kyle Walker is also expected to miss the tournament with a toe injury picked up during Sunday's victory over Fulham.

Despite reports that Walker would recover from the injury, it is now expected that the 21-year-old will be left out of Hodgson's squad.
