Estudiantes plan to keep hold of Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo beyond his six-month loan deal, according to a report.

Estudiantes are reportedly keen to keep hold of Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo beyond his six-month loan deal.

The centre-back returned to his native Argentina in January but has only made one appearance for the Primera Division side since his arrival.

Rojo has struggled with injuries during his time with Estudiantes, although his boyhood club are supposedly looking to extend the defender's stay amid the coronavirus pandemic.

According to El Dia, United and Rojo have seen tensions rise between them recently, but Estudiantes are optimistic that an agreement can be reached for Rojo to remain in Argentina a little while longer.

The 30-year-old has previously expressed his desire to stay at Estudiantes beyond the summer, where he made 53 appearances between 2008 and 2010.

Rojo's current deal with United will run until the end of next season, and the Argentine has chalked up two goals from 122 appearances for the Red Devils.
