Manchester United football director John Murtough travels to Turin for contract talks with the mother and agent of Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to a report.

Manchester United football director John Murtough has reportedly travelled to Turin with a view to securing a deal for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

The 20-time English champions have allegedly already come to an agreement with Juventus over a move for the France international, with the transfer fee thought to be in the region of £15m.

However, Man United are yet to settle on personal terms with the 27-year-old, and recent reports have claimed that talks between the Red Devils and Rabiot's camp have been problematic.

The Frenchman is believed to be looking for a salary of €10m (£8.4m) per year, which would represent a substantial raise on his current package in Turin.

Rabiot is represented by his mother, Veronique Rabiot, and according to The Telegraph, Murtough has now made the trip to Italy for contract talks with the midfielder's camp.

The report claims that a lack of Champions League football for the 2022-23 campaign is an issue for the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, but he would be willing to sacrifice top-level European action to move to Old Trafford providing that his wage demands are wet.

Last term, Rabiot featured on 45 occasions for Juventus, including 32 outings in Serie A, but he is not in the club's plans for the 2022-23 campaign.

Man United boss Erik ten Hag has reportedly already spoken to the midfielder about a move to Old Trafford, and the club are confident of getting a deal over the line in the near future.

Rabiot came through the youth system at PSG, representing the club on 227 occasions between 2012 and 2019, winning five Ligue 1 titles, four Coupe de France trophies and five Coupe de la Ligue crowns.

Meanwhile, the midfielder has made 129 appearances during his three seasons at Juventus, winning Serie A and the Coppa Italia, while he is very much part of the France set-up.

Man United have allegedly not given up on Frenkie de Jong despite suggestions that Chelsea are now at the head of the queue for the Barcelona midfielder.

A deal for Rabiot is not thought to be related to De Jong, with the Red Devils prepared to sign both players before the end of the transfer window.

Ten Hag also wants at least one more addition in the final third of the field, but the club's business could depend on whether Cristiano Ronaldo is successful in forcing an exit before the deadline.

Marcus Rashford's future is also being called into question, with Paris Saint-Germain said to have met with his brother and agent last week to discuss a switch to the French capital.

Man United will be bidding to bounce back from last weekend's 2-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion when they resume their Premier League season at Brentford in Saturday's late start.
