Bayer Leverkusen hopeful of Kai Havertz stay amid Chelsea, Manchester United talk

Kai Havertz has been strongly linked with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United, but sporting director Rudi Voller is hopeful that he will stay at Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller has insisted that the club "have not given up hope" of keeping hold of star forward Kai Havertz at the end of the season.

Havertz has enjoyed another impressive campaign in the Bundesliga this term with 11 goals and five assists, earning him links with a move to an array of heavyweight clubs.

Chelsea are rumoured to be the new frontrunners to sign the 20-year-old, while Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have also been tipped to make a move.

However, Voller believes that Leverkusen are in a good position to fend off competition for the £70m-rated German in the summer transfer window.

"We haven't given up hope that he'll stay with us," he told ARD.

"We try to give him every possibility that he can call up his qualities. He has done an outstanding job in the second half of the season."

Havertz last month became the first Bundesliga player to reach 35 goals before the age of 21.
