Manchester United have reportedly taken an interest in Le Havre defender Arouna Sangante, who has also been on the radar of Premier League rivals Manchester City and Chelsea.
The Red Devils have had to endure a difficult start to the 2023-24 league season, with several defenders, including Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw, suffering injuries of varying lengths up to this point.
Sangante was a standout performer in defence for his side last season and was awarded a spot in the Ligue 2 team of the year for his contribution to Le Havre's promotion.
According to Football Insider, there is significant interest in the rising star from various clubs across Europe, with Manchester United being one of three English teams involved in the pursuit of his signature.
The report adds that Sangante's impressive displays over the last two seasons have also attracted the attention of European clubs AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund.
At just 21 years old, Sangante is the youngest captain in Ligue 1, and under his leadership, The Dean Club are currently in seventh place in the French top flight while they have also kept five clean sheets in 10 matches.
Sangante penned a new deal with Le Havre in July, which is expected to run until June 2026, but it is understood that the club are willing to cash in on the player in the next transfer window.
Last season, the 21-year-old played 35 games in Ligue 2, scoring three goals and providing two assists as Le Havre earned promotion back to the top flight.
