Manchester United 'refuse to comment on Wayne Rooney contract reports'

Manchester United reportedly refuse to speak about reports claiming that striker Wayne Rooney will be offered a new four-year contract.

Manchester United have reportedly refused to be drawn on reports that the club are close to agreeing a new deal with striker Wayne Rooney.

It has been claimed that the Premier League champions are prepared to offer the forward a new four-year contract, which would net the England international around £52m.

Despite the reports, the club have decided to stay quiet on whether Rooney will extend his stay at Old Trafford, according to BBC Sport.

Rooney, who was linked with a move away from the club in the summer, has two years remaining on his current deal.
