Rumoured Manchester United transfer target Nicolas Gaitan has reportedly started contract negotiations with Benfica.
Recent speculation claimed that the 27-year-old was on the verge of moving to Old Trafford during the summer, but the switch fell through because United manager Louis van Gaal opted to sign Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial instead.
However, according to Portuguese publication A Bola, Benfica are now keen to tie the winger down to extended terms, with discussions said to be at an advanced stage.
The report adds that confirmation of the new deal could come as early as next week.
Gaitan joined Benfica from Boca Juniors in 2010 and he has gone on to make over 200 appearances for the Eagles.
