Paris Saint-Germain reportedly join Manchester United in the race to sign Ivan Rakitic from Barcelona in January.

Paris Saint-Germain will reportedly join Manchester United in the race to sign Ivan Rakitic from Barcelona in January.

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde recognises the need to address his bloated squad in January, with seven players competing for three midfield places.

Reports have claimed that Rakitic is among the players that the Catalans are willing to dispense with next year.

According to a report from Spain, the Croatia international is open to the idea of moving to PSG, who will closely monitor the midfielder's situation ahead of the next transfer window.

The 31-year-old is said to have been mentioned as a possible makeweight in a deal which would see Neymar return to Barcelona.

Rakitic has been reduced to just one start in La Liga this season following the club's acquisition of Frenkie de Jong from Ajax.
