Stefan Maierhofer: 'Millwall can turn it around'

Millwall striker Stefan Maierhofer believes that the team will turn around their fortunes in the Championship and avoid relegation.

Stefan Maierhofer has insisted that Millwall can turn their form around despite suffering a defeat to 10-man Huddersfield Town yesterday afternoon.

Huddersfield were reduced to 10 men with the scores level at 1-1, but Ian Holloway's side were unable to capitalise on their man advantage and gave away two late goals the visitors won 3-1 at The Den.

The striker, who scored Millwall's goal, told the club's website: "I was happy last week when I didn't score and we won at Nottingham Forest. It is so disappointing to lose this game today. I thought at times that we played well.

"On Tuesday at Birmingham I will be happy if we play badly and win. It is a big week for us with games at St Andrews and Elland Road but we can turn this around. I am confident of that.

"The spirit in the squad is still very good and it is a bit of a similar situation to when I came in last season, except we have more games left. We got out of it then and I feel we have enough about us to get out of the bottom three."

The defeat, which is their fourth in their last six matches, leaves the Lions in the Championship relegation zone.
