Paris Saint-Germain confirm that initial results over Neymar's injury are "reassuring" and the Brazilian attacker has not broken his ankle.

Paris Saint-Germain attacker Neymar has escaped a broken ankle after he went off on a stretcher in the French champions' defeat to Lyon on Sunday, the club have confirmed.

The Brazil international was on the receiving end of a poorly-timed challenge from Lyon's Thiago Mendes in the dying embers of that 1-0 loss - with his compatriot being sent off for the tackle.

There were fears that Neymar could have been sidelined for an extended period of time with a broken ankle, but PSG released a medical update on Monday stating that initial results are "reassuring".

Further examinations will need to be carried out before it can be determined how long Neymar will be out for, but AS reports that the 28-year-old is expected to be fine for PSG's Champions League last-16 clash with former club Barcelona in two months' time.

Tino Kadewere scored the winner for Lyon at the Parc des Princes, which lifted Les Gones above Thomas Tuchel's men in the table - with the champions now down in third as Lille lead the way.

PSG are back in action on Wednesday with a home game against Lorient, but Neymar - alongside the injured Mauro Icardi, Pablo Sarabia, Juan Bernat and Abdou Diallo - will play no part in that one.
