Newcastle United reportedly make a late bid to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli, who is currently on the brink of moving to Everton.

Newcastle United are reportedly making an effort to beat Everton to the signing of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli.

With Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski having moved to London, Alli has been given permission to sign for the Toffees after an agreement was reached between the two clubs.

As it stands, the England international is said to be going through the final stages of the process before being confirmed as one of Frank Lampard's first additions at Goodison Park.

However, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Newcastle have made a late play for Alli having missed out on Jesse Lingard and Hugo Ekitike.

The report claims that the Magpies are attempting to get a loan deal over the line, whereas Everton intend to push through a permanent deal.

While a move to Merseyside looks to be the far more likelier outcome, much could depend on whether Newcastle are willing to include an obligation to buy in the future.
