Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing to approach Bologna with a new £17m bid for centre-back Takehiro Tomiyasu.
The Japan international was thought to have agreed personal terms over a switch to Spurs last month, only for Nuno Espirito Santo's side to prioritise a move for Cristian Romero instead.
Tottenham are understood to be in the final stages of completing a deal for Atalanta BC's Romero, with a defensive reshuffle inbound following Toby Alderweireld's exit, while Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez's futures also remain uncertain.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham's pursuit of Tomiyasu was placed on hold due to the Olympics, but the North London side are ready to increase their offer to £17m.
The report adds that Spurs' most recent bid of £15.5m fell short of what Bologna were looking for, but Tomiyasu is determined to complete a move to the English capital should the two clubs reach an agreement.
Tomiyasu has featured on two occasions for Japan at Tokyo 2020, with the host nation due to take on Mexico in Friday's bronze medal match.
