Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly tabled an offer for West Ham United defender James Tomkins.
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is looking to bolster his defensive options after Ledley King and Ryan Nelson were both released last week.
Ajax captain Jan Vertonghen is believed to be close to a switch to White Hart Lane, but Redknapp wants cover for the Belgian and has identified 23-year-old Tomkins as the ideal candidate, according to The Metro.
It is believed that Spurs have offered £5m for Tomkins and the Hammers are considering the bid.
Tomkins featured in 44 of his side's 49 Championship matches last season.
