Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has admitted that a deal for Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen is advancing but is far from finished.
The Belgian international, who featured against England yesterday in the 1-0 loss at Wembley, has been heavily linked with a move to White Hart Lane and Redknapp has praised the 25-year-old's versatility.
"Jan is a terrific passer and versatile too," Redknapp, 65, told The Sun.
"He can play at the heart of defence but also plays every comfortable at left-back.
"I hope a deal is done but I don't think it's quite finished yet."
Vertonghen recently suggested that a move to Spurs was close to completion.
