Tottenham Hotspur fail with £38m bid for Mauro Icardi?

Inter Milan knock back a bid in the region of £38m from Tottenham Hotspur for skipper Mauro Icardi, a report claims.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly had a bid rejected by Inter Milan for striker Mauro Icardi.

It was reported on Saturday that the Lilywhites were hopeful of landing the 23-year-old to offer support for Harry Kane next season.

According to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, Spurs have fallen short with their initial offer which is thought to be in the region of £38m.

Inter chief Erick Thohir recently stressed that captain Icardi, who top scored for the Nerazzurri last season with 17 Serie A goals, was not for sale at any price.

That could change should a bid higher than £40m be made, however, but it is not yet known whether Tottenham will make a fresh approach after this first setback.
