Wolverhampton Wanderers 'bid £5m for Idrissa Sylla'

Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly table a bid of £5m for Anderlecht striker Idrissa Sylla.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly tabled an offer of £5m for the services of Anderlecht striker Idrissa Sylla.

The 25-year-old has been on the radar of the Midlands side for some time, and they were believed to have been unsuccessful with an offer of around £2.3m earlier this summer.

Wolves have since gained new owners in the form of big-spending Chinese conglomerate Fosun International and, according to the Daily Mail, their bid has now been doubled as they look to tie up a deal before the end of the month.

Sylla, who has also been linked with Rafael Benitez's Newcastle United, joined the Belgian Pro League outfit in February 2015 for a fee of £1.3m and has already scored twice in three league games this season.

Wolves had an offer of £6.5m for Derby County forward Chris Martin rejected last week and are now believed to have made Sylla their top priority as manager Walter Zenga looks to add more firepower to his ranks.

The club have also been linked with Icelandic midfielder Birkir Bjarnason in recent days, while a Championship-record signing of Brazilian forward Anderson Talisca is thought to be just hours away.
