Lewis Hamilton has vowed to fight until the end in his attempt to reclaim the F1 Drivers' Championship.
Hamilton was on course for a third win in four races in the Singapore Grand Prix before a gearbox failure forced him to retire after 23 laps.
Hamilton now sits 52 points behind leader Fernando Alonso in the championship after he finished third in Singapore, but the Englishman is refusing to give up the chase just yet.
"It's heartbreaking not to have finished the race because I was cruising, managing the gap and I had the pace. It should have been an easy win, but then I started to experience a problem with the gears," said Hamilton.
"I told the team and they told me I should be able get to the end of the race, but then I lost third gear, then all the gears went. It was gutting. The good thing we can take away from this weekend is we have extremely good pace, and as a result we can really attack.
"It's going to be hard to close the gap to guys like Fernando and Sebastian, especially when they keep finishing race after race. But I'll never give up. There are six more races, and I need to go and win all six. I'll fight until the end."
Sebastian Vettel claimed pole position in Singapore to overtake Hamilton as Alonso's nearest challenger.
