Portugal's Telma Monteiro claims a win by ippon over Hedvig Karakas of Hungary in the women's -57kg judo at the European Games.

Portuguese judoka Telma Monteiro has cruised to victory in the final of the women's -57kg competition, defeating Hedvig Karakas in under two minutes.

The 29-year-old was awarded a waza-ari less than 90 seconds into the contest, and picked up the ippon shortly after to make sure of the victory.

The Hungarian was unable to get off the mark in the final, leaving her to settle for the silver medal.

Kosovo's Nora Gjakova secured her country's first medal of the Games with victory in the first of the bronze-medal bouts, while Germany's Miryam Roper joins her on the third-place step.
