Ronaldo unveils giant statue of himself

Real Madrid and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo has had a giant statue erected in his honour on the Portuguese island of Madeira.

After helping the Champions League winners claim the Club World Cup in a 2-0 win against Argentina's San Lorenzo on Saturday, the 29-year-old flew to his native Funchal to pose in front of the statue - which depicts the Ballon D'Or winner in his trademark free kick pose - with his family.

Ronaldo, who is considered one of the greatest players of all time, is seen as Madeira's biggest export and, in addition to the statue, also has a museum in his name on the island.

The museum boasts over 125 trophies and, according to Ronaldo, is there to give something back to his fans.
