Great Britain's women have suffered a 11-7 defeat at the hands of Italy in a classification water polo clash this afternoon.
The Brits got off to a positive start and made the most of their chances in the first quarter by taking a 3-2 lead. However, the Italians answered back by scoring four in the second quarter, while GB failed to get a goal on the scoreboard.
Fiona McCann tried to get the home side back on terms in the third quarter by scoring an early goal but Italy had enough strike power to clinch three more goals and extend their lead.
The Brits managed to score two in the fourth quarter to narrow Italy's lead to 9-7 but a brace from Tania Di Mario secured the victory for her national side.
